Im swapping my NA 2.3 outta of my ranger for a 2.3T out of a 1988 ford thunderbird turbo coupe. using stock pistons (8.5:1) the skirts have been teflon coated and the top ring has been themal coated. the rods have arp rod bolts and have a teflon coating as well. my head has been ported and polished 3 angle valve job and a ranger roller cam. I have a gutted upper intake and a knifed lower with a 60mm tb. im running a equal lenth header. my turbo is a Holset HY35 off of a dodge desiel. my intercooler is a NPR outta a Izuzu box truck. my low boost is gonna be 25 psi or so and high will be around 35. walbro 255, FPR, 76lb injectors, MSD-6AL, MSD coil, Bailey motorsports dump valve, 48mm wastgate.
Im also swapping my stock tranny for a T5 outta a mustang. my stock one is only good for 250hp. and a Spec stage 3 clutch.
im prob. missing a good many parts but its late and im kinda slow right now thanks to paints brackets and a block in a closed garage! hehe.

sounds good man...what power ranger are you looking for? and what are u going to use to tune it? like to make the air/fuel mixture run right...u don't want to lean out or get detonation...i have a 5 angle valve job in my civic and i'll tell you it makes u run rich as crap lol...the p&p doesn't help either...what cc's are 76lb injectors? i'm going to run 440cc injectors with my itb's...keep me updated on the ranger...i would love to see it

My ecu is a EEC-IV LA3 out of a mustang SVO and i have a EEC Tuner for it. i think 76lb equates to around 700cc. oh and the power range untune should be about 300 im gonna get it tuned for low boost on 25psi and that should be around 400 to 425 at the wheels and high boost around 35psi that should put me at around 550. those are just estimated guesses. turbo ford guys hardly ever go to the dyno and if they do they dont post their numbers b/c alot of them dont want people knowin what they have. stock ford rated the 2.3t at around 220 at the wheels.
well im off to do a whole heck of alot of wiring for my motor and then swappin my tranny (fun i get to cut holes in my floor of my truck!) I may post some pics of my motor and pistons and goodies later.

76lb injectors are...... 798cc injectors.... those are quiet large.... my friend put 50lb injectors in his SR20DET when he put on a HKS GT2530 and put down a solid 300hp w/ those at 18psi....

better to have more than enough then not enough. you can always tune them down if they are too big.

you can go TOO big.... and you can actually loose power because you cant controll the amount of fuel going in but as you said it is always better to have to much rather than too little. if you look under this you can see what happens when you run lean

lol...kyle...greg was running 1000cc injectors on his when it only needed 550cc...all they did was tune it with the hondata s200 to make the air/fuel what it needed to be...

did chris forget to set the ring gaps on his new turbo motor...cuz that thing smokes like hell

Post by RoadconeTuning on Mar 21, 2006 9:57:39 GMT -5
HIS FIRST ONE BLEW ALL TO HELL.... NOT HAVING IT TUNED WONT CAUSE THAT MUCH SMOKE... WELL IT WILL BUT ITS BECAUSE IT BLEW UP. LOL
YEAH I KNOW YOU CAN USE INJECTORS TEH SIZE OF YOUR LEG BUT THEY ARE MUCH HARDER TO CONTROL... THATS WHY RX7 GUYS LIKE TO RUN THE STOCK 2 SETS THEN ONE OR TWO big BASTARDS INTO THE INTAKE...

kyle...fix ur cap lock buttin...and i didn't say not having it tuned caused the smoke...i said "not setting the ring gap" makes it smoke...as in piston rings...when the pistons got put in the motor

it smoked like a frieght train b/c he had 1000cc's that were untuned. he got it tuned and blew it on our way home from the dyno. it was runnin stout till he blew it. he said it kept cuttin off and he kept cuttin it back on without tellin me and robbie and nex thing you know it was over heating. he blew the head gasket, cracked each sleeve in 2 places each! and had 3 pistons hit the valves. the reason the pistons hit the valves is b/c he took his head off a car that he blew the head gasket on and would not get it resurfaced to save his life so me and robbie are pretty sure the the head was slighty warped to begin with. he put a B16 in after he blew the GSR and messed it up in 1 DAY... now travis bout his car and setup and is lookin for a B16 to put in there.

i think hes talking about travis w/ the EF hatch that has a "vacuum leak" his leak has bigger bumps than marios does tho :0) i thought chris put started w/ a LSvtec blew that and then put in a GSR... did he blow that up too? im starting to think that car is cursed.

Travie Imhof he has the...well had the built all motor LS hatch. now its a bone stock LS with a T Bo kit. Yes that car is cured. Chris started with a all motor GSR and then blew it up and then got a new GSR and fully built it and blew it and then got a B16 at s and things and blew it up. ive tried to talk travis into taking his LS out of his hatch building it and puting his VTEC head on it and T Boin it but he wants a B16 somthing fierce. He just needs a bottom end.
Chris bought a 3000GT for 600 bucks for a rainy day car and for sunny days he has a Ninja that he just bought. I think he about to get a G35 or a IS350...he cant decide which one he wants.

i know chris did have the all motor ls/vtec in his car...it as pretty nasty than when he bought robbies turbo kit robbie said it was a gsr motor...how did he blow it again? he needs to learn how to build/tune a car if he wants to keep one lol...

He used to work at CC but doesnt anymore and he was only working there part time. he has money from his parents or grandparents or something like that. he built a new GSR for the turbo setup. his old GSR is sittin in his gargae floor. he doesnt want to go fast any more he said it was a faze and now he is over it.
